Major Clothing Retailer
A major clothing retailer within the United States was reviewing
three new location sites within Chicago, Los Angeles and Atlanta.
These sites were within diverse ethnic and income communities.
When presented to the company's internal market research
department, all three sites were rejected for lacking good
sales opportunities.
Still believing in the potential of these sites, the company's
real estate division enlisted the expertise of MetroEdge
to further analyze the markets with its specialized metrics
in order to fully understand these areas and their consumer
behavior.
Using alternative local information and analysis, MetroEdge
provided the retailer with a more in-depth and realistic view
of the consumer potential. For example, in the West End area
of Atlanta, it was determined that this area has as much concentrated
buying power as the more upper income Buckhead area. In addition,
the West End area has the same proportions of middle income
residents and the same growth rate as the city of Atlanta.
In light of the findings from MetroEdge, the retailer reconsidered
its earlier decision, and has moved forward with locating
new stores in two of the three locations.
